    Stantec's Tallahassee office has an exciting new opportunity for a Civil Engineer / Project Manager. Tallahassee is located in the beautiful Red Hills region of North Florida, which the Nature Conservancy has called "one of America's last great places." As the capitol city of Florida and the home of two major universities, Tallahassee offers an affordable and highly livable community within a short distance of some of Florida's most unspoiled coastline.

    For the right candidate, this role has the potential to be based within any city in Florida, Georgia, or Alabama with the expectation of the occasional commute to Tallahassee for meetings.

    Your Opportunity

    You will function as a Project Manager in many instances. You will also direct the efforts of junior staff members as they execute project tasks under your guidance.

    Key clients for our Tallahassee office include the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, electrical power systems throughout North Florida, architecture firms, and others. Additionally, the Tallahassee office is one of Stantec's key centers of expertise for federal projects, especially those serving the US Department of Defense. In this exciting role, you'll experience a range of fascinating projects including site development, municipal utilities, parks and trails, and federal facilities. You'll be surrounded by talented and experienced teammates with extensive experience in these diverse work areas.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the design of projects large and small, from moderate to high complexity.

    • Engage in the development of plans, specifications, cost estimates and design reports.

    • Evaluate work products and provide markups for junior engineers/designers.

    • Prepare and revise design documents in various civil phases including site plans, utility plans, grading plans, and details.

    • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.

    • Make presentations in client project requirement meetings and design charrettes.

    • Develop and manage the project scope, budget, staffing plan, and schedule - or assist the Project Manager in these management tasks.

    • Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications with the help of administrative/clerical staff.

    • Participate in constructability reviews, quality control reviews, independent technical reviews and value engineering workshops.

    • Assist with the development of proposals for new projects.

    Qualifications

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    • Experience as an Engineer-of-Record and/or Project Manager in any of a range of relevant civil sub-disciplines.

    • Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.

    • Ability to perform all aspects of design (grading, drainage, water, sewer, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.

    • Sound knowledge of industry practice and demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.

    • Experience with both private and public sector clients/projects

    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the professional of Civil Engineering

    • Registered Professional Engineer in Florida or ability to obtain within 1 year.

    Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
