Controller

Description Robert Half is searching for an ambitious Controller to join a reputable Machinery/Worktools company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Mount Prospect, Illinois region.

Your responsibilities in this role

• Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

• Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

• Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

• Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

• Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

• Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

• Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

• Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

• Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

• Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

• Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements - Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

• CPA/MBA preferred

• Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

• Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

• Month end closings experience desired

• Ability to meet deadlines

• Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

• Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

• Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
