    Trustmark is currently seeking an Executive Director, Compliance Programs & Ethics to join the Law Department and work at our corporate office located in Lake Forest, IL. This is a hybrid work arrangement that requires 3 days in the office.

    Overview

    The role is responsible for managing enterprise ethics programs and the compliance risk assessment and monitoring methodology for an insurance mutual holding company.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Ethics Programs Oversight

    • Design, manage and monitor programs to promote a culture of compliance and compliant conduct across Trustmark Mutual Holding Company and its subsidiaries. Programs include:

    • Enterprise policy governance and oversight

    • Enterprise required training and job-specific compliance and regulatory training.

    • Compliance communications and awareness campaigns

    • Conflicts of interest and gifts/entertainment

    • Fraud, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and sales practices

    • Oversee the Code of Conduct and reporting tool (whistleblower hotline) and evaluate associated metrics.

    • Develop other compliance programs as identified and prioritized by Chief Compliance Officer

    Compliance Risk Assessment and Monitoring Program Administration

    • Responsible for developing and implementing targeted and recurring compliance risk assessments in collaboration with key stakeholders and partnering with Enterprise Risk Management and other assurance functions to ensure risk alignment across the enterprise.

    • Prepare compliance risk assessment reports and compliance risk dashboards.

    • Evaluate other areas of monitoring and implement a second-line risk-based compliance monitoring program over identified areas of high risk.

    • Manage risk registers; evaluate status of compliance issues and associated corrective actions.

    Third-party Compliance Program Administration

    • Collaborate with legal partners and business units on third-party contractual compliance requirements.

    • Oversee compliance requests on inbound client questionnaires and requests for proposals.

    • Manage initial and ongoing compliance reviews of Trustmark's service providers.

    • Oversee compliance screening processes of all Trustmark third parties, including sanctions.

    • Manage compliance technology vendors and tools related to the above programs.

    • Participate on workgroups, committees or councils as compliance representative related to the above responsibilities in order to provide value to the enterprise.

    Management

    • Responsible for performance and development of direct reports

    • Manage external clients and deadlines, including contracts and contractors, vendors and consultants.

    • Build relationships within and outside Law Department to facilitate compliance goals.

    • Create measurable performance drivers and develop plan for assessment of set metrics.

    • Manage and prioritize team workflow to ensure Law Department and Compliance team goals are attained.

    • Identify efficiency opportunities and increase effectiveness of Law Department and Compliance team.

    Compliance Education and Professional Development

    • Manage Compliance team's knowledge development within scope of responsibility to ensure readiness for enterprise growth.

    • Advise Chief Compliance Officer in development of ongoing education and professional development opportunities for Compliance team and other stakeholders.

    • Develop library of compliance resources and skills matrices for Compliance team

    • Continuous development of knowledge of industry practices to provide guidance to enterprise.

    Education and Experience

    • 10 years' work experience, including at least 5 years of work experience developing and managing compliance programs at an insurance company and/or other highly regulated industry.

    • Ability to drive execution and implementation of key programs with minimal oversight.

    • Bachelor's degree

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Excellent analytical skills and judgment

    • Vendor oversight experience

    • Ability to work collaboratively across the enterprise and influence stakeholders at various levels.

    Preferred Experience

    • 10+ years' work experience, including managing compliance teams and designing compliance programs, including risk assessment and monitoring programs.

    • Insurance or financial institution compliance experience

    • Juris Doctor

    • Advanced compliance certifications (e.g., CCEP)

    • Experience in using, selecting and/or implementing compliance technology and data visualization tools

    • Experience mapping business processes and designing compliance controls
