  • An auditor who will review, analyze and assess allegations, agency investigative referrals, and documents obtained by request or subpoena. As part of a team, the auditor will follow leads; track, gather, and analyze documents, accounts, and records; identify witnesses; conduct interviews; and play a significant role in developing a case, summarizing the investigative results, and working toward a resolution of the matter.

    Under the direction and approval of the government, the auditor will plan and conduct investigations of a highly complex and difficult nature, perform quantitative, qualitative, or other analyses of relevant facts, claims data, account information, etc. and prepare the results to support the mission of the USAO's ACE Program. These services include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Work with assigned attorneys to determine applicable administrative statutory and regulatory law and identify possible violations or causes of action, and develop an understanding of applicable federal, state or local laws to the extent necessary to make sound decisions on direction and scope of investigations and case development.

    • Review documents and other information relating to investigations, and gather and analyze such evidence and make presentations about it both orally and in written form.

    • Work with federal, state and local agency/officials, and other organizations and individuals related to the subject of investigation, to gather facts, learn sequences of events, and test theories.

    • Create an investigative plan for submission to and approval by the government. Draft document requests to obtain additional documents for review and approval by the government.

    • Review and analyze financial documents and agreements and determine methods for testing accuracy of representations and submit to the government for review and approval.

    • Perform electronic document review.

    • Analyze financial data and create Excel spreadsheets, charts and exhibits to show the results.

    • Help to identify, and after approval by the government, interview sources who may have information regarding violations of federal laws and financial fraud statutes, and provide assistance to the government in the investigations of such violations.

    • Write reports and recommendations for submission and approval by the government.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

    • A bachelor's degree in business administration or a closely related degree. Undergraduate courses should include a combination of the following: finance, business, economics, statistics, accounting, math, and business law.

    • Minimum of three years experience as an investigator

    • Minimum two years specialized experience in the specific subject matter area involved

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet and database software is required. Knowledge of economics or accounting, knowledge of financial regulations, and expertise or experience in the gas, coal, venting and flaring, offshore or Indian reporting industry, or the health care industry are strong pluses.

    • Strong work ethic, writing skills and attention to detail are essential.

    The salary range for this position is $92K to $95.7K (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
