Organization Overview
The basic approach of our laboratory is to use mouse models of neurological disease to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which neuronal function is disrupted in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, and other neuropathological conditions.
Overview
The Research Assistant will perform daily/weekly lab chores and aid in research projects, performing experiments with a postdoc/research associate or independently.
Responsibilities
Assist with molecular/biochemical experiments (Western blotting, IP, ELISA, activity assays, cell culture, qPCR)
Assist with animal experiments (blood draws, DNA prep, PCR, behavioral tests, injections, perfusions, brain sectioning/immuohistochemistry)
Maintain animal colonies - genotyping, breeding, weaning
Pick up packages, order lab supplies, and make general lab solutions
Help keep lab space organized
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in field of biological sciences
Proven experience in wet lab setting and mouse handling
Must possess basic knowledge of molecular and biochemical techniques
Two year minimum commitment
Neuroscience background
Completed independent research project in college
