We believe that inclusion helps us thrive and grow at United across our collaborative Finance teams consisting of Financial Planning & Analysis, Internal Audit, Treasury, Global Procurement, Controllership, Investor Relations and more. These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning, performance, and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies. Our Finance team plays an integral role in making our airline profitable and successful by meeting our financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead insurance programs for Financial Executive Risk, Cyber & Terrorism including Business
Interruption, Construction Builders Risk and Owner Controlled Programs, and other assigned programs
Risk identification, measurement / monitoring of risks. Partner with business on risk response.
Develop insurance renewal strategies & targets based on analytics, risk profile, and insurance market
Negotiate coverage, claims and costs to improve overall capital efficiency of the insurance program
Determine / implement self-insurance strategy approach based on risk profile and insurance market
Lead program administration and drive efficiency into renewal processes
Lead vendors including Broker, Insurers, Actuary, Captive manager, & Claims. Develop trust and build relationships with partners.
Construction risk management advisory services including negotiating indemnity and insurance terms as well as insurance cost pass throughs to United with Construction Contractors
Review and advise the business on contractual risk transfer sections of lease and other contracts. Negotiate vendor risk transfer and insurance section of the contract.
Lead and develop team members
Lead wholly owned captive insurance company for assigned programs including:
Developing and implementing strategies to optimize captive economics
Underwriting and claims of insurance financed by the captive
Oversight of company financials including reserving and investment approach
Compliance with regulatory requirements

Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or other similar business or legal related major
6 years of experience
Leadership skills including Strategic / Analytical / Problem solving skills
Finance and Accounting Knowledge
Savvy Communication and Negotiation skills
Project management and process improvement
Commercial Insurance and Risk Management knowledge
Ability to build and develop teams and work cross functionally
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Master's degree in Risk / Insurance or MBA
10 years of experience including 2 years of experience in a role leading people
ARM - Associate Risk Management
CPCU - Chartered property and casualty underwriter
Knowledge and experience with Construction risk management / financing including builders' risk and owner controlled programs
Legal understanding of risk transfer contract wording and claims concepts
Knowledge of Loss control / Engineering concepts
