  • Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer

    Position Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will utilize their extensive manufacturing, equipment, and design expertise to collaborate with product design engineering in discovering, defining, developing, and validating new assembly and quality test equipment, along with assembly process solutions. Their primary focus is on developing assembly and test processes, establishing product critical to quality test requirements, considering process risks, and determining solutions to guide development and product launch. Ultimately, they will implement and optimize production cells, including assembly process equipment, fixturing, and test solutions for New Product Introduction (NPI) into manufacturing. Additionally, they will identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality on existing production lines.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide product and process DfX (Manufacturing, Assembly) input to Product Development Engineering to enhance manufacturability and product cost.

    • Identify and assess potential process risks and mitigations, and maintain current process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other quality records.

    • Oversee new products during the pilot production phase through successful and sustained project launch.

    • Develop efficient manufacturing assembly lines, specifying and/or refining Bills of Materials (BOMs), workflows, and detailed work instructions.

    • Focus on opportunities for poka-yoke, DfX, semi-automated and automated solutions, and design for assembly opportunities to achieve optimal safety, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cost.

    • Drive NPI schedules, resolve manufacturability issues, and make improvements.

    • Collaborate with external vendors and product development teams to define production test equipment requirements, establish clear statements of work, deliver and commission production cells on time for product releases.

    • Conduct comprehensive failure analysis to identify root causes of emergent production issues, efficiently documenting, mitigating, and closing non-conformances, and performing requalification of production equipment.

    • Use analytical objective data and statistical analysis to advise and drive decisions.

    • Validate, qualify, and document manufacturing equipment and processes using standard qualification approaches (IQ/OQ/DQ/PQ/PPQ).

    • Mentor and assign project tasks to Manufacturing Engineers on their specific project team and other teams as needed to further company expertise and effectiveness.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

    • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in process design or manufacturing engineering.

    • Experience in new product introduction (NPI) and process development.

    • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

    • In-depth knowledge of equipment and methods to implement assembly and test processes of complex systems.

    • Strong process engineering skills with demonstrated proficiency in product assembly.

    • Ability to create and refine electrical and mechanical components, assemblies, process documentation, tooling, and test methods for sensing systems.

    • Demonstrated project leadership and strong communication skills to drive assembly equipment, fixturing, and tooling design from development through implementation.

    • In-depth understanding of processes including electronic assembly, injection molding, machining, stamping, laser welding, design of experiments, and process capability analysis.
