Many people thought their note-taking days were over when they left school. If anything, school was just the training ground. Working in an administrative position requires you to be a note-taking ninja at times. Luckily, there are a few mobile apps that will help you capture, organize, and retrieve important information fast.



  1. Evernote - Hailed by many experts as the best software available for taking notes, Evernote is a multipurpose tool that can capture text, voice, images, and video. All of the data is placed into a cloud account where users can organize it into folders. In addition to being compatible with Android and iPhone, Evernote can be used on regular PCs and Macs. Data on all of these devices can be synced, and there are collaboration tools that allow you to share the information with other people on your administrative team. The free version provides 60MB of space per month. The paid version, which costs $5 per month or $45 per year, increases storage space to 16GB.
  1. Papyrus - Whether you are using a physical QWERTY keyboard or a virtual one, taking notes on a smartphone can get tricky at times. Papryus is an app that allows you to take handwritten notes using a stylus, active pen, or your finger. Standard features include a zoom function and the ability to organize notes into a notebook or export them. The premium version includes cloud services that let you back up and restore notes as PDFs.
  1. Microsoft OneNote - Microsoft had turned many of their standard products into mobile apps, one of which Microsoft OneNote software. The app captures text and images, lets you make charts and diagrams, and allows for syncing between devices. Microsoft OneNote also connects with Microsoft SkyDrive for cloud storage of data. The app is available for Android and iPhone.

Write by Stylus Labs - If you like mobile apps that are simple and straightforward, then you may enjoy taking notes with the Write by Stylus Labs app. This app allows users to take handwritten notes and has basic word processing features such as cut, copy, and paste. You can customize the page size, insert bookmarks, and add images. Notes can be exported in HTML, SVG, or PDF format. This app is great for those who prefer minimalistic tools.

There are a wide variety of mobile apps designed to help people capture and manage information. Both Apple and Google have stores that contain a ton of free and premium mobile apps just waiting to be downloaded. Spending an afternoon browsing available apps can help you uncover gems that will make the duties of your administrative job easier to manage.
