JOB SUMMARYAssists the Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigators in coordinating all aspects of clinical research studies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: patient screening and recruitment; coordination of care of the research patient; protocol implementation; data collection and query resolution; device and drug accountability; submission to the Institutional Review Board (IRB); and assistance with account management of research study funds; correspondence with study sponsors and federal regulatory agencies for research; document preparation for site audits; and other related administrative and clerical tasks, as assigned.
EDUCATIONWith guidance of the Primary Investigator (PI), effectively coordinates all aspects of research studies.
Maintains communication with PI and sub-investigators, patients, internal and external collaborators (e.g. consulting physicians), sponsors, federal regulatory agencies, and other involved parties as required.
Appropriately assists with screening patients for study participation e.g. reviews medical records, collaborates with medical & research staff, etc.
Administers tests and collects data during study visits as needed.
Maintains accurate and/or thorough documentation on all source documents and case report forms (CRFs) for each study patient, resolving all patient queries, reporting adverse events.
Implements study protocols and ensures regulatory adherence throughout the course of the study.
Ensures that informed consent is obtained on each patient prior to study initiation and that consent process is followed.
Participates in investigator, coordinator, or study initiation meetings accordingly.
Prepares and submits all study protocols, consent forms, and other required documents to the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Device and drug accountability.
Coordinate and participate in monitoring visits/audits with regulatory agencies or sponsors.
Assists in the account management of research funds, including payment tracking from the sponsor to the institution.
Educates hospital staff about protocols through in-services, written materials, and one-on-one interaction, for each study and each patient.
Communicates any changes in trial status or other issues to appropriate people.
Demonstrates flexibility in daily routine and effectively accommodates for the needs of the job (e.g. late patient enrollment).
